Our lab specializes in synthetic chemistry to design and create novel polymers and conjugates with enhanced therapeutic and material properties.

CHEMICAL SCIENCE 2024

Duplex-forming oligocarbamates with tunable nonbonding site

This original research study details the design of a programmable oligomeric platform with molecular recognition motifs that encode information for hybridization in non-aqueous media

JACS 2020

Thiol-ene networks from sequence-defined polyurethane macromers

We reported a novel route to synthesize scalable, sequence-defined oligocarbamates with precise monomer control and monodispersity via a series of sequential reductive aminations and carbamations. This study enabled the cross-disciplinary study of the effect of chemical sequence on material properties.

NATURE CHEMISTRY 2016

Sequence-Defined bioactive macrocycles via an acid-catalyzed cascade reaction

We reported the synthesis of oligothioetheramide (oligoTEA) macrocycles via a one-pot acid-catalyzed cascade reaction. The synthesis of more than 20 diverse oligoTEA macrocycles demonstrated the versatility of the cyclization chemistry and modularity of the assembly process.

JACS 2014

Sequence-defined polymers via orthogonal allyl acrylamide building blocks

This body of work describes a unique strategy for the assembly of sequence-defined polymers using allyl acrylamide building blocks with orthogonal reactive sites coupled with a liquid-state fluorous support.
