Meghan O'Leary named a 2020-21 CBE Fleming Scholar
With a generous gift from Nancy and Samuel Fleming ‘62 to support graduate student research in the biomolecular program, the CBE department selects students each year to be named "Fleming Scholars." Through a competitive process, Meghan O'Leary was awarded one of three Fleming fellowships based on her outstanding research in engineering pathogen-specific antibacterials. Meghan chose to pursue a Ph.D. in chemical engineering because she wanted an intellectual challenge and an opportunity to positively impact society. She is passionate about piquing girls’ interest in STEM and breaking stereotypes of who can be an engineer. She was never one to follow the rules and loves that Cornell Engineering encourages researchers to take risks in order to create a better world.
